“May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you.

I am the widow, Alfat Asad Mahmoud Ezz El-Din.

I was married, and my husband had a heart condition. We were unable to treat him due to difficult circumstances. He needed a full heart transplant in a Western country, but this was God’s will, and he passed away.

We lived in a rented house, and I had six children: four girls and two boys.

I struggled through life like any mother and widow who struggles to provide for the children. I struggled to pay the rent on the one hand, and to provide the most basic necessities for raising the children properly and meeting their basic needs. I became both a mother and father to six children.

Life continued with ebb and flow, until the Al-Aqsa Flood War came, which we lived and are still living. On Friday, 12/8/2023, God’s will was to test my patience again. We were only targeted inside the house where I live with my children, and we were pulled out from under the rubble.

God tested me in my own children, my son Ibrahim, who is 13 years old, and my beautiful daughter Rahaf, who is 9 years old. They have become birds of paradise.

The fires of war did not leave us, as I was displaced after the house was bombed about 10 times. I moved from one place to another to protect what remains of my children.

God alone is the protector and preserver. Now here we are tasting the bitterness of war, the bitterness of tents, the bitterness of loss and pain. God is the one sought for help.”
