Direct Aid for Folks Impacted by SoCal Fires

*We sent $500 - $1000 to 22 different families, the Anti-Recidivism Fire Fighter Fund, We Care Domestic Worker Relief, and a mutual aid fund Venmo for homeless folk from 01/08/2025 to 02/03/2025. We are continuing to reach out to people and send more as of 02/03/2025. We have donated $15,776 of the money raised. As of 02/03/2025, we no longer have funds to distribute, given the deductions.*

Hi! Thank you for being here and reading this. As you know by now, the SoCal fires have consumed the houses of many people in the Altadena/Pasadena community. A lot of house insurances 1) do not cover damages for weather-related emergencies and 2) do not include fire insurance in general. There are too many people who I know, and who you probably know too, that have lost their homes. Let's pull together as a community and give people who are most impacted one less thing to worry about.

My hope is for this GoFundMe to reach several different people/communities so we can directly donate money to people who have lost their homes, loved ones, and/or possessions. We will also give money to domestic/service workers who lost their jobs, as well as incarcerated firefighters. We are raising money for people who need help securing emergency funds such as: food, gas, medical care, places to live, etc. We are prioritizing sending money to folks who are low-income, disabled, people in the BIPOC communities, and, generally, people who do not have as much as a reach in wealthier communities. This has all happened so quickly and the needs of people will change with time; the goal is to be prepared as best as possible for the needs that people have now and the needs that will arise.

[About organizer] My name is Lauren Savo and I grew up in Sierra Madre. My family currently lives in the house that my mom grew up in (our house is safe). Sierra Madre/Pasadena/Altadena is my home and has my heart and that is why I am doing this. I say this only so you know a little bit about the person who will be dispersing this money.

[For Transparency] I linked my bank account to the donation page. I wanted to do this so I can directly give families $500 as money is donated so folks can get monetary aid instantly. This money is allowing fire-impacted families to buy clothes, food, masks, and hotel stays until they can get back on their feet. More people reach out daily for help.
