Cambodian people are helping each other as the Thai-Cambodia war has forced over a hundred thousand Cambodian citizens along the border to flee. This is a fundraiser for my partner (herself a Cambodian) providing direct aid supplies (dried food, diapers, blankets) to be purchased and distributed directly to families.
Media companies in SEA have focused on the Thai side of the border due to largely being based in Thailand, but these are amongst Cambodia's poorest in an already very Global South country (the average family income in these places is less than $200 a month).
NGOs are overwhelmed, and with USAID defunded there is much less international money available in the region.
In response to this, direct aid has been set up by legions of Cambodian volunteers, purchasing, preparing, and distributing supplies right to families. My partner Belle, who is presently in Cambodia, is a part of this network of assistance. Funding for this will go directly into purchasing supplies in Cambodia for displaced families by well-trusted and public figures. We will document the purchase and drop off of all supplies.
