"Without Farmworkers there is no Food." (Art by Marisol Duran)
Direct Action for Farm Workers is a Bay Area-based mutual aid group that organizes, collects, and redistributes resources in the agricultural regions of Northern California. We formed in response to the 2020 wildfires that forced farm workers to confront a litany of obstacles including home evacuations, job and wage loss, smoke inhalation and poor air quality, COVID-19 and pesticide exposure, and labor exploitation. Our goal is to provide instrumental support for campesinx communities battling the ongoing pandemic and natural disasters.
As we near the one-year anniversary of Direct Action for Farmworkers's formation, we once again want to bring attention to the ongoing struggle of our Campesinx community. Farmworkers are currently dealing with the impacts of wildfires and the pandemic, much as they were a year ago, meaning that our work is as necessary as ever. Funds will be used to provide evacuation supplies, food assistance, rental assistance, and school supplies.
