Diogo’s Healing: Surgery, Recovery & Support
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Diogo.
On February 25th, I was in a serious motorcycle accident. Through no fault of my own, I was left with multiple fractures in my right leg and wrist — my dominant side — and spent the first few months in and out of hospital, undergoing surgeries to install external fixators and metal plates. I’ve since begun the long, painful journey through rehabilitation.
Thanks to your generosity, I was able to purchase a short-term electric wheelchair. It gave me back some independence at a time when even standing was impossible. I still intend to pass it on once I’ve recovered — but your support made that part of the journey possible.

What’s happening now
Recovery is ongoing, and it hasn’t been straightforward. In addition to the accident, doctors recently found a tumour in my chest — unrelated, but large enough to require open surgery later this year. It’s likely benign, but it’s added to the strain in ways I didn’t expect. As the months go on, the challenges have shifted — from the immediate crisis to the quieter, slower work of rebuilding. Day-to-day life still carries a weight I’m learning to manage.
⸻
Why I’ve Adjusted the Goal
I’ve now set the campaign target at £2,500. This reflects:
• The upcoming surgery and recovery period
• Ongoing costs that come with extended healing
• The continued uncertainty of life after major injury
If you’ve already donated — thank you. You helped carry me through when I had nothing left to hold onto. If you’re seeing this for the first time, or checking in after a while: this is still a moment where support makes a difference, even just by sharing the link.
⸻
Final Stretch
I still hope to walk unaided again, return to a full life, and pass forward what’s been given to me. This campaign helped keep me steady through the worst. Whatever happens next, I won’t forget that.
Thank you, Diogo
