Dino Ride For Jago: Bounds to Brighton and back !
Donation protected
#DinoRideForJago?
We will be cycling from Bounds Green to Brighton, to raise money for dino-mad Jago Jones, who’s recently been diagnosed with non-curative DIPG.
Starting off early in Bounds Green on Sunday 20 September 2020, we’ll aim to cycle all the way to Brighton. And for those of us who are up for it, all the way back again (124 miles, 200km).
We’re amateur cyclists of all different levels and all the money we raise from sponsorship will go directly to Jago’s fundraising.
We’ll all be wearing some kind of dinosaur-themed cycling jersey, just for Jago, too.
Jago is five, son of Gabriele, and twin brother to Imogen. He received his diagnosis in April 2020. DIPG is an inoperable, non-curative brain tumour, situated in the brain stem - the superhighway of the body.
It’s so rare that it affects only 20-40 children in the UK each year. Devastatingly, the prognosis is bleak, with an average survival rate of just 8 months after diagnosis.
There are clinical trials out there in Europe and the US that could dramatically extend - or even save - Jago’s life, but they come at a huge price. Gabriele needs to raise £450,000 to give her little boy a chance of a better, longer life.
So far, their fundraising efforts have raised £75k – enough to get Jago to Switzerland for the beginning of treatment. However, we still have a mountain to climb, which is why this ride is so important.
We’ll be riding in groups of six, following Covid-Secure guidelines, and we’ll be in training until the day.
Thank you,
Team #DinoRideForJago
(So far we are: James, Ethan, Damian, Mike, Stan, James, Harvey, Graham, Paul, Rob, Roland, Julian)
