After a successful run of Brian & Luke's Amazing Terrific Jaw-Dropping Fantastical Spectacular Tremendous Excessive Live Holiday Jamboree outdoors at The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime last December, Dingbat Theatre Project is back (and a little bit more green)! In May 2021, Dingbat Theatre Project produced their version of Shrek the Musical to sold-out crowds and rave reviews at The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime.
Here are some reviews from Dingbat's production of Shrek!
"The Dingbat Theatre Project’s new venture is off to a promising start with this delightful show that is perfect for the entire family." - T. Michelle Walker, Sarasota Herald-Tribune
"Dingbat's production of Shrek the Musical is unlike any Shrek you have seen before. This is fitting for the times we live in. Sarasota has embraced 'The show must go on' in a whole new way this past year. So, don't miss your opportunity to experience live theatre that will surely leave you with a smile on your face." - Jacob Ruscoe, BroadwayWorld
"The original source material almost demands a whimsical slant, so why not take it one or two steps further? These guys aren't big budget, but with major talent (many of whom I have enjoyed in our various community theaters) the choice of material is an inspired one." - Bill Oser, Talkin' Broadway
ABOUT DINGBAT THEATRE PROJECT
Dingbat Theatre Project is a collection of young theatre professionals dedicated to the creation and development of dynamic and boldly imaginative theatrical productions. Dingbat's belief is that great storytelling, and, by extension, theatre comes from imagination and a desire to play. Each production Dingbat Theatre Project brings to the stage, from newly imagined classics to original pieces, will reflect this urge to engage in theatre in a creative and surprising way. For more info see our website!
WHY GIVE?
Producing theatre, even when being as resourceful as possible, is a very costly venture. There are many up-front costs in order to put on a play or musical like licensing and materials fees, personnel compensation, costumes, sets, lighting, etc.
Giving to our campaign will not only make us dingbats super happy, but will help keep theatre alive in Sarasota, empower young theatre professionals in the community, help provide local artists compensation for their creative endeavors, help give local theatre goers and families an opportunity to see something new and exciting at an accessible price, and make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Donors, if they choose to be acknowledged, will be recognized in the playbill for every Dingbat Theatre Project show in 2021 and 2022.
