Dina ( aka Flip flop ) needs our help

Hi , John here , retired policeman and avid traveller , in 2014 I travelled with a group of like minded people to Cambodia with old and now new friends for the adventure of a life time, we still talk of it so it must have been ! , one of our guides Dina , ( he’s the one with the biggest smile ‘ quickly gained the name flip flop due to his lack of safety equipment and whilst we rode in armoured boots he rode his bike through rivers and jungle in flip flops . His smile was infectious and he couldn’t do enough for us , a gentle kind sole .

Fast forward 9 yrs Dina has been a police man / army reserve / teacher sadly on the 28th August he was involved in a road accident in Vietnam his neighbouring country.

The words of his brother

“ Yes, he had an accident last night on 28/08/2023, sent to Ha Tieng Hospital, Kien Giang District, Vietnam at 5:30 am and sent to Kien Giang Provincial Hospital, Vietnam at 8:00 AM. 55 In the morning on 29/08/2023, when the doctor arrived, he did the first aid and then went to the scan room, found a blood clot in the brain and a broken right jaw, water in the nose, including the right eye may be affected. When the scan found out the results, he was admitted to the ICU for 4 nights. It has been 15 days since my brother was admitted to Kien Giang Provincial Hospital in Vietnam.”

Dinas medical fees require help from his family and this is in some respect happening, he will also need continued treatment to recover and also cover living expenses until hopefully his health will improve , I’ve therefore created this page to at least help a little and put back in some form , the smiles Dina created for me and my fellow travellers .
