Dimmick House Explosion & Fire

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tia Hoogland, and I am raising funds for Jeff & Laura Dimmick of Le Mars, IA.

On Wednesday, July 13th, at approximately 6:30 AM, Jeff & Laura's house endured an explosion that turned into a large house fire and destroyed the home.

Jeff and Laura were home at the time and transferred to the hospital in Le Mars, where they are currently stable and receiving treatment.

Their food, clothes, vehicles, motorcycles and personal belongings were taken in this tragic accident this morning. Our ultimate goal is to raise funds for the Dimmick family to help recover some of what has been lost, along with extensive medical expenses that Jeff and Laura will endure.

Please help to spread the word and donate to this sweet family who has lost nothing less than everything today.

**Update** Laura is discharged home after three days in the hospital. We hope she continues improving her breathing and pain stays manageable. Laura is seeing Dr. Althaus this week for the broken clavicle. Hopefully, she is strong enough to get the surgery done asap. Jeff is improving a little each day. He will be going to the doctor on Wednesday to get the nine staples removed from the head and possibly stitches. Jeff will return to Lincoln on Friday to receive a skin cleaning and another round of grafting. He will eventually have physical therapy on his arm and cosmetic surgery on his left eyelid and left ear from the 2nd-degree burns. We still have a long road to recovery, but the community, family, and friends will make this road easier during this challenging time.

**Update** Jeff was released from Floyd Valley the same day. However, the family felt it necessary to receive a second opinion as he suffered severe burns and trauma to the body. Jeff was brought to MercyOne in Sioux City, where he was told that he needed to be transferred to the specialized burn unit in Lincoln, NE. Jeff received the proper treatment for his severe burns.

**Update** Laura was also released from Floyd Valley the same day. Laura suffered a broken collar bone that will need surgery to be fixed. Laura was struggling to get enough oxygen to her lungs, so the family felt it best that she be reevaluated. Laura has since been admitted to the hospital in Le Mars for monitoring/treatment.
