Dimitri's Surgery: A Parent's Plea for Help

Hello everyone! My son, Dimitri, is having to undergo surgery on January 13th under anesthesia. I have decided to create a GoFundMe in hopes of donations due to rising medical bills. Dimitri was born with congenital penile torsion, and after various urologist appointments (each costing over $300 per visit) he has been referred to Children’s Hospital in Highlands Ranch to have his torsion corrected. Although not life threatening, penile torsion can have negative effects in his life long term if not fixed surgically. I am super nervous about my baby boy having to go under anesthesia to have this surgery done but after speaking with multiple doctors and specialists this is what needs to be done in order for him to have the best chances. Penile torsion is classified in degrees and Dimitri’s is at an 80 degree curvature. This means it won’t correct itself without surgery and he could have issues once he hits puberty/adulthood if not fixed before he is two years old. It’s up to myself as his mother to make these difficult decisions on behalf of him to give him the most normal and healthy life possible. Unfortunately the medical bills are adding up rapidly. Even though medical insurance covers some, it still leaves a massive amount. Children’s Hospital has quoted me $3,950.87 out of pocket that I have to pay for his procedure alone. This is why I have created a Go Fund Me asking for donations to help me cover some of the costs as we try to pay his urology specialists appointments and his upcoming procedure. I am asking friends and family to please consider making even just a small donation to help Dimitri. He absolutely needs this surgery and I will do whatever I can to make sure my boy always has what he needs to be the healthiest and happiest boy. It breaks my heart to have him go under anesthesia and I know our loved ones care about Dimitri a lot too.
