Dimitri Papavassiliou is the number 1 surfer in Greece and a well respected goofy footer in his hometown of Malibu. His ultimate goal is to represent Greece by participating in surf contest all over the world in order to qualify for the WSL championship tour. He first stood up on a surf board at 6 years old and has made surfing his whole life ever since. He has proved himself to be an accomplished surfe, winning contests in his younger years, made it through tough injuries and competed in the ISA 2020 World Games in El Salvador representing Greece. He will continue to compete at the World Games for Greece in the hopes of making it to the 2024 Olympics in France.
The only problem is being able to afford surf gear, plane tickets and accomodations in foreign countries. All of this is especially hard given the current environment around the COVID pandemic. As a surf school instructor, Dimitri has been hit hard by pandemic and could use some extra help to accomplish his goals, represent Greece and make his peers proud.
