On the evening of January 9, 2017 my father Dimi Panciarelli passed away at the home him and my mom Kathie and their 2 dogs shared.
My dad was born on March 10, 1948 in Italy. His parents brought him and his siblings to the states when he was 9. He has lived in the Portland/Gresham area ever since then. He met my mom when she was 15 and he was 16. At 18 he joined the Marine Corp. In 1969 he was in Vietnam where he was a tank driver and one day while he was outside of his tank a bomb went off he immediately lost one leg was taken to the hospital and eventually lost his other leg. When he came back to the states he was a bit shorter but still had his overwhelming personality. He reconnected with my mom and after some time they were married on September 15, 1972 they were married. One year and one month to the day I was born and in February 1976 my brother was born.
Losing his legs never stopped him, he rode horses, fished, hunted, played basketball and enjoyed life to the fullest. One of his favorite hobbies was fixing fishing reels on the couch and in 1985 he had the opportunity to get a job at Ollie Damons and be paid for his hobby. He was still working at Ollie Damons when he passed away.
My dad loved everyone he ever met. He was a burst of sunshine and will be missed more than anyone could ever know.
Unfortunately because his passing was so unexpected there was not a plan. My mom was the love of his life and he would do anything for her. He left a little money for her but it's not enough to keep her going for very long. Because of her health she is unable to work and has to rely on Social Security. I am hoping to raise enough money to pay for my dads memorial expenses and give my mom some extra money for the next few months until we can figure out what she is going to do.
Anything you can do to help would be extremely appreciated. I can't put into words how everyone's prayers and love has helped our family.
