Dillon is my 8 year old, full of life French Bulldog who has recently been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. It is a Glioma, that does not respond to Chemotherapy. His only options are Palliative care, or Radiation Therapy.
The symptoms came on quickly and he took a rapid decline, including horrible episodes of panic circling, falling, and now not being able to stand or eat on his own. It’s very time sensitive, and I have been doing all that I can to get him into a Radiation facility. Unfortunately there is only 1 in Canada and they are booked. I thankfully was able to get him in at a Radiation Facility in Pittsburgh. As expected, this is an incredibly expensive undertaking but I’m willing to do whatever I can to help him / give him quality of life.
This diagnosis has been terrifying, both emotionally and financially. So far his medical costs have been over $5000 just to have him diagnosed.
As an update, PetCure Oncology in Pittsburgh has expedited the process and were able to get him an appointment on Tuesday May 13th to start the treatment process! I’m beyond grateful. We start our 6 hour drive to Pittsburgh on Monday May 12th, and will need to stay there until Monday May 19th. The estimates are higher than I originally thought though (the exchange rate makes it much worse). His CT scan & planning is $7,500 CAD, followed by the actual SRT radiation therapy treatments which costs $14,000 CAD. This doesn’t include any additional tests that they might need to do beforehand (chest x rays, bloodwork). Not to mention the travel & accommodation costs to get and stay in Pittsburgh during his treatment. It’s overwhelming.
Any and all support to give his handsome little man a fighting chance is GREATLY appreciated ❤️
