Help Dillon Walk Again
Donation protected
Dillon Leming (age 21 pictured with his dad Gary and younger brother Luke) from Monterey, Tennessee had a serious accident on Sunday, March 19, 2017. An afternoon hike alone in a very familiar location turned into the scariest situation of his life. Overlooking a bluff outside of Monterey, Dillon slipped falling around 60 feet. The fall crushed one of his vertabrae which pressed into his spinal cord leaving him unable to use his legs. He was alone and stranded for two nights while his family searched for him. His dad, Gary, and a family friend located him on Tuesday, and he was life-flighted to Erlanger in Chattanooga where he underwent back surgery.
Dillon has been recovering in Erlanger ever since. He is taking one day a time, hoping to regain movement in his legs. Currently, he can move the toes in his right foot and can flex his quad in his left leg - we are all thrilled with this! We know he has such a long road ahead to regain leg function. But he is in such great spirits and has the most positive attitude!
Unfortantely, Dillon did not have insurance at the time of the accident. Beyond hospital bills, he is looking at months and possibly years of physical therapy to hopefully walk again. We can't even begin to estimate the cost at this time.
Since Dillon's accident, his dad - who is self employed-has stayed with him every day and will continue to be there through therapy.
So many prayers have been said on behalf of Dillon and we are eternally grateful. We are grateful for how healthy he is and pray that he makes a full recovery.
We are also seeing prayers answered!
A huge prayer that was answered today is his admission to Sheppard Center in Atlanta, GA. Sheppard specializes in spinal cord injuries like Dillon's. We are blessed and are incredibly thankful that Dillon was awarded 30 days FREE at this rehabilitation center through a scholarship offered by Erlanger. Dillon will leave Erlanger tomorrow and be on his way to recovery in Atlanta.
We thank you in advance for praying over Dillon. He is a loved, adventurous, polite, generous, kind-hearted son and big brother. We love him and couldn't image life without his smile.
Any donations to ease the burden of his medical bills and future rehabilitation bills would be a blessing to Dillon and his family.
We have also set up an account at the Bank of Putnam County called the Dillon Leming Recovery Fund.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your donations.
