This fundraiser is set up to help offset the cost of medical expenses and travel for Dillon Coates and his family.
As many of you may know, Dillon was involved in an accident back in March 2022. At the time of the accident Dillon had a right brachial plexus injury. Small right frontal subarachnoid hemorrage. Shattered scapula. C7 and T1 transverse fracture. The right subclavian artery was bleeding and then clotted or dissected, so a stent was placed to prevent further clotting. Dillon’s right vertebral artery coming off of his subclavian is essentially nonexistent. Right lung contusion with small right pneumothorax. The nerve that allows proper function of his diaphragm was affected and continues to make it difficult for him to breathe at times. Since the accident, Dillon has had 3 surgeries. He’s had the stent placement surgery, the intercostal to bicep reinnervation surgery, and the scapular-thoracic fusion with bone graft.
Given the circumstances of the injury, Dillon has been delt a flaccid right arm causing medical professionals to perform an amputation next month, July 2023.
There is no team of doctors in the state of Iowa that performs brachial plexus surgeries so they will be traveling Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota next month.
Throughout this time, Dillon has remained positive and has continued to be a help at the drop of a hat towards everyone. If you know Dillon, you know he rarely asks for help so I am asking for donations to help offset medical and travel expenses. Dillon is also the owner of Iowa Gutter Service and these donations will help with the time he will be out from work. Any donations help and are very much appreciated.
