When Dillon left us, many of you asked about a charity that you could make a donation to in his name. At the time, I couldn't grasp what had happened, so I didn't have a response to the kind gesture you were offering. On the occasion of his 25th birthday, we are having a celebration at our bar, River Bottom Pub, along with DFWNORML Annual Lake and Bake Celebration.
"Founded in 2005, the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter of NORML – the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, is a grassroots, educational non-profit organization dedicated to fighting cannabis prohibition in the Lone Star State. We support the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes, responsible adult use, and the production of industrial hemp.
As a registered Texas non-profit organization, all of the money we raise goes toward furthering the cause of legalization. Our chapter has over one thousand members and counting, making us one of the largest NORML chapters in the world. We hold free, monthly meetings that are open to the public as well as marches, conferences, classes and live music fundraisers every month." https://www.dfwnorml.org/about-us/
As most of you know, medicinal cannabis changed Dillon's life. He was a member of DFWNORML, and an advocate for change in cannabis policy. His passion has become my passion, and over the past year I have gotten to know the wonderful people in this organization, who work tirelessly to help educate politicians and the public, to bring about policy change in Texas. All proceeds will go to DFWNORML, and will be presented on September 14, 2019, at the celebration. Please join us. Thank you.
