Dilley family house fire
Donation protected
At 1:00 am the Chardon Fire Department responded to a 911 call from 11720 Regent Park Drive. 74 year old William Dilley, a retired Marine veteran of the Vietnam War called for help after his beloved pug Stoli woke him up by barking to alert him to the danger that was down the hall: a raging uncontrollable fire coming from his youngest son Robert’s bedroom. At this point, the blaze was so intense and the power severed by the fire, leaving the house pitch black. William and Robert did everything they could to save their beloved pets: Stoli the pug, Wally the parakeet, and Peppy the rabbit. However, the heat from the fire combined with the thick smoke made rescue impossible. At this point the upstairs where the bedrooms and animals were loacated had become engulfed in smoke and fire. Chardon Fire Department, along with at least 7 other local fire departments came to the rescue. However, they were unable to save the animals. Their efforts were heroic and greatly appreciated by the family.
We are seeking to raise $5,000 to cover the insurance deductible. William Dilley, who is 100% disabled from lasting effects of agent orange during the Vietnam war, and also the caregiver to his two sons Jim Dilley who has aspergers and Robet Dilley who is schizophrenic.
They need our help, now more than ever. Please donate what you can, if not money then clothing and shoes. They will be living out of a hotel for 6 months to a year until repairs are completed.
