On behalf of Diane Smalls & Shannon Brown and for my beautiful friend Dija:

It is with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our beautiful sister Dija Chemise Brown on March 9th, 2023.

From the moment you met Dija, you could see her soul was stunningly bright, warm and full of love. Her energy was more than special, she radiated positivity that planted a gorgeous smile on her beautiful face, infectious to anyone in her presence. She was fearless and stood her solid ground, refusing to be anything but herself every day. She was a true friend and soul sister. If you had a worry, she eased your mind. If you were in tears, she gave you a hug. Her quick and witty humor often erupted a whole room with laughter and being out with her was always pure fun. It is simple, she just enjoyed life.

Most of us also know Dija as an incredibly talented technical designer, respected throughout the fashion industry. Her work ethic matched her personality, showing up every day as herself and giving her best. It’s a difficult industry and I watched her remain cool and collected time after time when it wasn’t always easy to. She was a wonderful leader that took the time to educate and grow her team. She understood visions and goals and I trusted her to see her part through, which she always did.

Preparing to say goodbye to our friend and sister Dija is not going to be easy. You are welcome to post pictures and stories to help Diane and Shannon to see how far her network of love stretched.
