Please help send this great team of High Plains Elementary 5th graders to the Destination Imagination Global Finals competition in Knoxville, Tennessee!!!
After coming in 1st at our regional competition and 3rd at the Colorado state-level competition, we made it to Global Finals! But, to get there, our team needs to raise $8,000 to pay for registration, lodging, airfare, etc.
We need your help! If you are able to, we are asking that you please make a donation to help us get to Tennessee. Every little bit helps.
Our team is the DI Hawks and we've chosen to do the Improv Games Challenge where students create three independent 2-minute improvisational sketches that incorporate previously researched types of street performances and other improvisational elements. Judges give teams 3 specific required elements and 1 minute preparation time to develop their performance.
We are excited for this fun experience to stay on campus at the University of Tennessee and to compete against teams from across the world! We are even hoping to get a "buddy team" from another country to spend time with while we are there.
What is Destination Imagination (DI)?
Destination Imagination is an educational organization that gives students the chance to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation, by teaching participants the essential skills of creativity, teamwork, and problem solving.
DI's main program is a global problem solving tournament that begins with the fall school semester each year. Students form teams of up to seven members, and each team selects one of six mind-bending Challenges created by Destination Imagination volunteers. With the guidance of parents as Team Managers, each team creates an action plan and works together for weeks or months to develop and create a solution to the Challenge. From the U.S to China, Poland, Colombia and Brazil, student creativity is unleashed in astonishing ways in the Destination Imagination program.
Each year, 1,400 or so teams advance from regional, state, and country-level tournaments and have the opportunity to compete at Destination Imagination's Global tournament held in May at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
