Dignity Restoration Housing Program

Tax deductible
The Dignity Restoration Housing Program (DRHP) needs your help in order to ensure agency, dignity, and respect. DRHP's goal is to provide move-in ready homes to Detroiters who (1) were unconstitutionally assessed and (2) qualified for Detroit's Poverty Tax Exemption, which means they should not have been paying the property taxes in the first place.  DRHP does not have the capacity to provide a home for everyone who was unconstitutionally assessed, but DRHP intends to be a model that the City of Detroit can replicate to address each unconstitutional assessment.

Money from this campaign will go directly to repairing a home on Detroit's east side. The repairs may consist of electrical, plumbing, drywall, floors, and painting. DRHP's goal is to have the repairs finished by December 2019 to allow a Detroiter, who was illegally assessed, to move in before the end of the year.

In April 2018, DRHP successfully assisted Sonja and her family with moving into a home on Detroit's west side. And, Sonja is now the Director of DRHP. The Program's work is supported by Bridging Communities and Central Detroit Christian.
