Dignity for David Mullin: Memorial Fund

Donation protected
My family is trying to raise money to help return David Mullin's remains to his wife, Laine.

David had been unhoused for almost 20 years, and he had no assets. We have not been able to locate his family in Idaho....

The homeless community of Healdsburg, CA, wants to have a memorial to honor their beloved friend of many, many years. He was their family.

We have tried to find discounted services, but unfortunately, those don't seem to exist. We were told that the cheapest cremation would be $2,200 in Sonoma County. $500 of that total is the coroner's fee. The entire amount must be paid before the body can be released to a mortuary.

We believe every human being deserves dignity, so we started this GoFundMe hoping that people could give something, anything, to help his friends and family accomplish this for him and his wife of 20 years.

This community was David's home. His life was not conventional, but he was one of us. If you can contribute, we would be forever grateful. Thank you so much!

His Obituary:

David Paul Mullin
November 5, 1984 – November 20, 2025

David Paul Mullin, 41, passed away on November 20, 2025. Born in Sun Valley, Idaho, on November 5, 1984, David lived a life marked by movement, music, connection, and a fierce sense of loyalty. A travelin’ warrior and devoted Deadhead, he carried his love for the open road and the Grateful Dead everywhere he went.

David was the beloved husband of the love of his life, Laine Mullin, who remained his constant source of strength and comfort. He was a caring father who loved his children deeply. David was also accompanied by his loyal mastiff, Terrapin, who rarely left his side.

He is survived by his parents, Kay and Gary Mullin; his sister, Marjorie Matchum; and his brother, Fred Mullin. His family, though separated by distance at times, was always held close in his heart.

David was known for his generosity, someone who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. Honest, loyal, caring, and loving, he was a man who showed up for the people he cared about in whatever way he could. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished brother, and a steadfast friend. His kindness was quiet but powerful, and his heart was bigger than the hardships he faced.

Though David experienced homelessness at the time of his passing, his life was defined not by his struggles but by his compassion, resilience, and the deep connections he forged.
