As many of you have heard, the Valencia Region in Spain has been terribly struck by flash floods that have effectively left thousands without home, destroyed businesses and left the whole area severely damaged. More than 200 persons lost their lives and around 150 are still missing.
This emergency has affected us very closely, as we have relatives and friends who have lost all. It will take them and their communities years to recover.
From Sun and Co. and the whole digital nomad community we want to contribute to mitigate the destruction left by this horrible disaster and show that we care about places we connect with.
More than 24.000 kids have been left with no educational facilities (link) and the reconstruction costs have been estimated to be 1.135 million Euros (link)
ALL THE MONEY RAISED will be donated to public schools in the affected area. Your money will help refurbish classes and provide learning materials to children aged 3 to 18, who, as of today, have no date to return to school.
OUR FIRST GOAL will be to aid Massanassa Public School (CEIP Lluis Vives), whose severely damaged building is in danger of collapse. Children won't be able to return to their classes until the building is evaluated and they have been relocated to Valencia.
Many of you have visited Valencia and its surroundings, know its people and enjoyed its hospitality. This is a great opportunity to give back and connect with the local community in time of need.
We are very grateful for every bit.
