My name is Paul, and our big beautiful boy Diggs needs your prayers. Sunday night, he suffered from GDV, commonly known as bloat, where his stomach flipped and twisted. He was rushed to the animal hospital for emergency surgery in the very early hours of Monday morning. His surgery seems to have gone well, even though they had to remove a small portion of his stomach that died due to lack of blood flow. He is recovering and has been in the ICU for 4 days. He now has pneumonia, which has lengthened the stay past the original 3 days. It was one of the hardest nights of my life, being faced with the decision of a very expensive surgical procedure vs. euthanasia. The decision was easy since he's such a huge part of our family. We are hoping and praying for his recovery and relief from the huge expense. Diggs is a miracle already. We adopted him from the amazing Canine Pet Rescue 3 years ago as a gunshot survivor. I normally struggle to ask for help or charity, but the financial burden continues to grow as his treatment and hospital stay is extending beyond the original estimate.

The funds raised will be used to cover the costs of the life saving surgery as well as Diggs aftercare. The surgery saved Diggs life, but he also lost 15% of his stomach due to complications. This surgery cost $5k. This means Diggs has a extended stay at the animal hospital with extra daily costs. These costs to date have taken Diggs care expense o over $8k to date. Diggs will also require regular vet visits to follow up and extra medications.
