Help Us Transform Lunchtimes at Broadlea Primary School

Dear Parents, Families, and Friends of our Community,

We have some incredibly exciting news! Starting this September, Broadlea is officially enrolling in the OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) primary programme. OPAL is a fantastic initiative proven to transform school lunchtimes, making them more active, creative, and inclusive for every single child.

As part of this journey, we want to completely redesign our outdoor spaces to offer rich, high-quality play experiences. Now we have our mud kitchen underway, our next project is transforming a plain area of grass into a magnificent, giant sandpit! (You can see our starting point and the wonderful vision we are aiming to achieve in our campaign photos!)

Why a Sandpit?

Sand play isn't just fun; it is a powerful learning tool. A large-scale sandpit offers endless opportunities for collaborative play, sensory exploration, problem-solving, and engineering. Whether building massive castles, digging complex canal networks, or baking imaginary treats, it allows children across all year groups to cooperate, communicate, and let their imaginations run wild.

How You Can Help

While we have the vision and the space ready, we need your help to bring it to life. We are raising £1,500 to fund:

Tons of high-quality, certified play sand to safely fill the large sandpit area.

Heavy-duty ground lining and protective covers to keep the sand clean, safe, and long-lasting through all seasons.

Enrichment play resources like buckets, spades, trucks, and sensory digging tools to maximize the fun from day one.

Any contribution, big or small, will make a massive difference. If 150 people donate £10, we will hit our target and ensure that when the children return to school this September, there is a new space ready for adventure.
