Medical Treatment for Gina

The fact that you've clicked on my link already means the world to me. Ive sat here in front of my computer screen, tears threatening to spill over as I attempt to put together a "story" about what happened, how we could use your help, and why we need it now more than ever. Honestly, do I want to be asking for help? No. If you know anything about our family, we are stubborn. When it comes to asking for help, its the last thing each one of us want to do. Its not about me anymore, its not about asking for help, its about putting myself and my family out there so that we can be supported and uplifted by everyone who is close to us. So here goes.

Im still getting all the details and correct dates/times straight as this week has been a whirlwind of activities. I will update as I go along and get more accurate information.

My mom, Gina Dietzer, has been diagnosed with cancer.

We don't know what type yet, the tests are still being run. What we do know, or rather what the doctor has spoken to us about is that he believes its stage IV. This means wherever it has originated from, its metastisised.

Gina drove herself to the emergency room Wednesday December 2nd with excruciating pain in her back and flank area. They ran blood tests and took xrays. Her white blood cell count was high which raised the question of infection. After reviweing the xrays, they saw she had three kidney stones - the cause of her extreme pain. They started her on pain medication to help ease her. At that time the doctor explained to her that in the xray he saw more than they were looking for. A mass on her lower left lung, about 7cm by 6cm big.

That evening they admitted her to the oncology floor at sharp memorial. MRIs, xrays, biopsys, and bone marrow samples were ordered to help further the process.

On the 3rd they were able to complete the MRI. It didnt come back with the results we wanted, they saw other masses located on her spine. The bone marrow and kidney samples came back clean which means there is no cancer located there. In about 8-10 days we will be updated with what kind of cancer we are dealing with and how aggressively they will go forward with treating it.

Yesterday (12/5) she started her first round of chemo.

At this point, we dont know what to expect, how much this will cost, or what options we are looking at - I will keep this updated as time goes on. If you feel its on your heart to help support us financially, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If anyone has any questions, I ask that you please direct it towards myself or my father - as this is a tough time for my mom and family. Feel free to message me on facebook or call text myself or my dad.
