My name is Lexi Lemus, and on Monday night, our sweet puppy Diesel was hit by a car. Thankfully, he is still with us after a long night at the dog hospital, but unfortunately, we received some devastating news. The doctors told us that his front right leg should be amputated, being quoted $8,000 for the surgery. We are going to get a second opinion and crossing our fingers for a cheaper quote on the surgery. For anyone that knows Diesel, he is the sweetest and funniest puppy. There is a very small chance that with lots of rehab, physical therapy, and money, we can get his leg back, but if after 4-6 weeks his nerve function does not return, we have to proceed with the amputation. As much as it is hard for me to have to ask for anything, the first night in the hospital has already cost us $3,000, and that is all we have to give him right now. Although my family loves him dearly and has helped all they can, I chose to bring him home from college, and being 19 and in school, I am just unable to cover the cost of this surgery or the rehab he needs. Diesel is trying his best to be in good spirits, and we appreciate all the love and texts we have received from this community. Anything helps, including your positive thoughts for his healing.
