This isn’t the easiest thing to write, but today Sage Veterinary discovered our German Sheppard Diesel has a mass in his colon that requires imminent surgery. Unfortunately, pet insurance is classifying this diagnosis as a “preexisting condition” and is denying coverage.
If you haven’t yet met Diesel, he is a gentle giant that we fell in love with at first sight and adopted about a year ago from El Dorado Shepherd Rescue. There was no indication Diesel has spent any of his 5 years on the plants housed and we knew we would do everything in our ability to improve his quality of life.
Diesel has had regular veterinary visits, attends swim strength training regularly and his FitBark tracks his activity at 11-15 miles a day so this surprise health scare came as an absolute shock to us and everyone who loves him.
The vet has estimated the cost of the procedures between 5,500-7,600$ in addition to the 2,300$ we incurred this week just for exams. I attached the breakdown in the photos.
Text alone can’t express our gratitude for you taking time to read Diesel’s story and are eternally grateful for any contributions to help support our beloved Diesel. We have a few “support Diesel” glasses ( coffee cups, champagne flutes, stemless wine glasses) for the first few donations over 50 dollars. Will fill requests until product runs out. E mail 1st choice then second and third so I can try and get you what you would prefer. Thank you so much for your time and even if you can’t donate please send love and share this post. ❤️ much love from Missy, Jeff, Diesel and bear
ps I know there is a lot of scams, please feel free to call the internal med of Sage Redwood City to donate directly to Diesel Dutto’s upcoming surgery! ❤️
