For anyone lucky enough to meet Diesel, they saw right away how sweet and happy he was. He welcomed every person into the house by bringing them a toy, including us on a daily basis. We adopted Diesel in 2023 as an energetic 2-year-old pup from an Alabama rescue. While he came with an eye issue and Giardia, his first year with us was amazing. He immediately trusted us to give him an eye drop treatment and loved his eccentric sister Harley. He loved playing fetch, tug of war, and getting belly rubs every morning.

In June of 2024, we learned Diesel had protein-losing enteropathy. Despite his health issues, he kept this happy, playful attitude. We had to slow down on fetch and walks, but Diesel still loved a squeaker toy and even got to visit 4 of the 5 Great Lakes in November on a recent road trip.

He fought for a year thanks to the great doctors at Pieper Memorial Veterinary but was laid to rest on June 19, 2025. Unfortunately, we did not have pet insurance when we discovered this health issue and spent over $25,000 on treatments to give him that time, about $14,000 in the last couple of months.

We are fortunate to have extended his life and given him more time with his family, but it did come at a large financial cost. We’re hoping our community can help with some of his costs. Anything you have to spare, we would be grateful!
