Diem Melissa will be 11 years old in July. She is a bright and resilient child who has been diagnosed with childhood dementia (BPAN NBIA), a rare neurodegenerative disorder. Diem has a g-tube and requires daily medicines, specialized feeds, and incontinence supplies, among many other essentials. Despite the challenges she faces, Diem continues to inspire everyone around her with her courage and spirit.
Recently, Diem has entered a critical stage of her condition. Between the ages of 10 and 12, children with BPAN NBIA often experience rapid neurodegeneration, leading to permanent regressions, seizures, catatonia, and dystonia. These changes have made her care more complex and demanding, and the costs of her medical needs have increased significantly. As her parent, I am committed to giving Diem the best quality of life possible, but the financial burden of her ongoing care is overwhelming.
Your support will help ensure that Diem receives the medical supplies, therapies, and daily essentials she needs. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and allow me to focus on caring for Diem without the constant worry of how to cover her expenses. Please consider sharing our story or making a donation to help us continue this journey. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us.
