Diego’s Orthopaedic Surgery

Hello, welcome to Ozzi Hearts 4 Paws Rescue!

We have in our care 'Diego' a 8 month old Dachshund.

Diego was surrendered to our rescue at 6 months of age, experiencing lethargy while exercising.

Once in our care he was health checked by the wonderful team at Terrigal Veterinary hospital and has had X-rays looking at his front and hind limbs.

Diego has been diagnosed with ‘chondrodystrophy’ resulting in severe ‘angular limb deformity’.

Chondrodystrophy is the abnormal development of cartilage. It causes the long bones of the body to grow at an abnormal rate and results in shortened legs.

This leads to stress of nearby joints resulting in joint instability, partial dislocation of bones, pain, reduced range of motion and lameness.

Dr Dan with Coast Ortho Vet will be aiding us in surgery for Diego.

Any dollar that can be spared for Diego’s cause is greatly appreciated.
