At only 21 years old, my cousin Diego Suarez has been recently diagnosed with kidney failure. He has faced many health issues since birth, undergoing multiple surgeries and procedures throughout his life. He has had to take numerous medications and treatments, some of which may have unfortunately contributed to his current diagnosis. Despite these challenges, Diego has always shown incredible strength, resilience, and a thirst for life.

This latest diagnosis is yet another difficult obstacle for him and his family, as he will likely require dialysis sessions soon and indefinitely or until he can receive a kidney transplant. These sessions will essentially do the work that healthy kidneys would normally do to help him maintain adequate function. 

Diego lives in Bolivia with my aunt and uncle, and unfortunately, the healthcare system there works differently than it does here in the States. He currently does not qualify for disability or healthcare insurance due to their immigration status, and they are already struggling to make ends meet for their regular daily needs. With this new medical requirement, their situation has become even more difficult.

I have decided to open up this account to help raise funds, hoping that Diego can continue the necessary laboratory studies and start the necessary treatments and procedures to improve his quality of life and, God Willing, prevent the need for a kidney transplant, although it may ultimately come to that. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a world of difference to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and generosity. A solamente sus 21 años, mi primo Diego Suarez ha sido recientemente diagnosticado con insuficiencia renal. Desde su nacimiento, ha enfrentado muchos problemas de salud, pasando por varias cirugías y procedimientos a lo largo de su vida. Ha tenido que tomar numerosos medicamentos y tratamientos, algunos de los cuales, lamentablemente, pueden haber contribuido a su diagnóstico actual. A pesar de estos desafíos, Diego siempre ha mostrado una increíble fortaleza, resiliencia y un gran deseo de vivir.

Este último diagnóstico es otro obstáculo difícil para él y su familia, ya que pronto necesitará sesiones de diálisis de manera indefinida hasta que pueda recibir un trasplante de riñón. Estas sesiones harán el trabajo que normalmente harían los riñones sanos para ayudarlo a mantener función adecuada. 

Diego vive en Bolivia con mi tía y mi tío, y lamentablemente, el sistema de salud allí funciona de manera diferente a como lo hace en Estados Unidos. Actualmente, no califica para discapacidad ni para un seguro de salud debido a su estado migratorio, y ellos ya están luchando para cubrir las necesidades diarias. Con este nuevo requisito médico, su situación se ha vuelto aún más difícil.

He decidido abrir esta cuenta para ayudar a recaudar fondos, con la esperanza de que Diego pueda proceder con los estudios y comenzar los tratamientos y procedimientos necesarios para mejorar su calidad de vida y, si Dios quiere, evitar la necesidad de un trasplante de riñón, aunque al final pueda llegar a eso. Cualquier contribución, por pequeña que sea, hará una gran diferencia para nosotros. Desde lo más profundo de nuestro corazón, gracias por su amabilidad y generosidad.
