Leaving college to enter the seminary was the most difficult decision of my life. I was 20 years old, a sophomore at Emory University. I knew God was asking this of me and through his grace, found the strength to make the jump. The following four years, 2012-2016, I was studying to become a Catholic priest, a process that takes about 12 years. Wearing a black cassock and a white collar I was a living testimony of his love for others. Ultimately, God asked me once again to make a jump. He showed me that the priesthood was not my path and that he was calling me lead and serve elsewhere.
After leaving the seminary, I was immediately readmitted into Emory University. I’m now a third-year undergraduate student at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. I’m also the vice president of the Catholic Student Union at Emory and a Resident Advisor for incoming first-year students.
Though in a different way, God continues to call me to be his apostle, even without a cassock and collar. I know that he has big plans for me and am giving my best to follow him.
As a step towards this bigger mission, this summer, I plan to attend the Catholic Worldview Fellowship : a four-week leadership development program in Germany and Italy. The objective of the fellowship is to help form, network and empower college students to evangelize culture.
I have the support of my family and friends, a special calling to lead and serve others, and this unique opportunity before me. Ultimately, the fellowship will enable me to develop supportive relationships and to form myself into the best moral leader I can be. I look forward to the fellowship and to coming back, taking what I have learned and applying it to the building of Christ’s kingdom in my community.
I therefore ask, above all, for your prayers. Nevertheless, I also humbly ask you for your financial support. I simply cannot fund the Catholic Worldview Fellowship alone and would be blessed to receive your help of any amount. The full cost of the fellowship, $4,950, includes everything except air fare to and from Europe.
