'DIE OR RIDE' tri-colour screen printed Free Palestine traveller sash is a tribute to an astute placard design by a young brown student activist in Naarm sighted at the student walk out of class protest for ceasefire on November 23rd, 2023.

Drawing inspiration from the visual language tradition of footy team scarves being flown from car windows (in the lead up to the grand final scarves are flown by fastening between the closed backseat window and door jamb). The billowing now scarf turned sash elicits much honking, hooting and unity. Of course equally they can be tethered to any form you like, including your person, or hung in the sanctuary of your home.

I have exhausted attempts to track down the young artist activist, but it’s my hope that through reproducing their design in tribute for this sash that we will find them.

The intention and significance of reproducing their artwork is to amplify the powerful voices of young activists who stand in fervent opposition to the politicians in power who are rendering us complicit in the unrelenting and brutal genocide of the Palestinian people.

'ME WE' tri-colour risograph A3 poster printed c/o Dennis Grauel hails from a Muhammad Ali talk at Harvard University in 1975 where a student in the crowd shouted, 'Give us a poem, Muhammad'. He paused for a moment, looked up and said: 'Me. We'.

All monies raised (from the sale of the 'DIE OR RIDE' sash) will go toward the young artists cause of their choosing if found, or to the GFC (Gaza Children’s Fund) in respect to the young artist’s position in the world, and in honour of all Palestinian children, alive and martyred. May their spirits and lives keep us fighting until complete liberation for Palestine.
