Hi all!
My sister Diana is in the process of getting treatment for an autoimmune disease. Her symptoms began on early 2019 with joint stiffness and pain which then developed into fevers and other symptoms. Most recently, she spent over 2 weeks in the Hospital (including Christmas and New Year's Eve) due to what's know as a "flare"which is commonly associated with autoimmune diseases and she's been back home for a month now.
There’s still not a definitive diagnosis, but it’s narrowing down to an overlap of LUPUS and RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS, focusing on her inter connective tissues.
This condition has affected her mobility, her energy levels, and her vision. As a result she had to quit her job on November 11th 2019 and we are unsure of when she will be able to go back to work. We have been blessed with Medicaid/OHP that is covering the medical bills (easily passing 100k, I'm sure) but we are reaching to friends and family to come together and help her create a financial cushion to pay for her rent, food and other bills as she transitions into a more sustainable living situation that allows her to continue to nurse herself back to health through a combination of medicine, nutrition, exercise and rest.
Right now she's stable and not in pain, but it’s still a long way to go before she achieves a sustainable long term plan and can get back to a normal life. The recommended treatment is being decided with the rheumatologist and the rest of the medical team.
She's incredibly fortunate to have an amazing support system of family, friends, a great medical team, and her boyfriend Jeff. Our dad has been living in Oregon since last July and he's been a great support through the entire process. She loves living in Oregon, which is a perfect setting for her healing process.
We are aiming to collect at least 2 months of rent by the end of March 2020. We kindly ask you to donate what you can, small donations go a long way too.
