Dicey Business: TTRPG, TCG & Hobby Online Retailer

Hi! I’m Dion, a queer, neurodivergent creative based in Brisbane with a lifelong love for tabletop games, weird little monsters, and inclusive community spaces. I’ve always found D&D to be my comfort and escape, and it’s inspired many friendships and creative endeavours that have made my life so much better. It’s been a dream for me to bring happiness to people through my passions in the same way they bring me happiness!

Due to this, I’ve been working behind the scenes to plan & build something special: Dicey Business, a fantasy-themed online store that sells TTRPG books, dice & accessories, TCGs, and handmade nerdy goods - all while uplifting diverse voices and making games accessible for everyone.

But this isn’t just about selling games.

It’s about building a brick and mortar safe space eventually - starting online - where people like us feel welcomed, understood, and celebrated. A space where no one has to mask. A space that celebrates passion, queerness, disability, difference, and dice.

My goal?

Start online. Grow slowly. And one day, open a brick-and-mortar shop with:

The logo? It’s a mimic in a trenchcoat. Because I think we’re all a little weird, and maybe that’s the point. Plus also, nothing screams ‘dicey’ more than a suspicious object and a Trenchcoat… together! I’ve also included a wireframe of the site for concept.

Why I Need Help:

Starting a store, especially one this niche, is hard on your own. I’ve already started designing the site on shopify, reaching out to distributors for stock enquiries, designing the site + digital assets, and building partnerships, but I need help covering:

Estimated total needed to launch: $7,686 AUD - I’ve put the total amount as $10,000 to give plenty of wiggle room + Go Fund Me gave a way higher recommended for projects like this amount so I chose an in-between number. Any income past $7,686 will be used for more product, hiring artists & designers to help with products, and advertising. Additionally, stretch goals (if I raise more) will include planning for a physical location (the main one), running games at pre-existing locations for the community, etc.

I’ve got enough to get me started slowly, but any support is appreciated to help come into the world of business full swing!
