Last week, we found little Geoffrey at the shelter in South Central Los Angeles. He had been hit by a car and brought in with a badly broken leg. But because the surgery he needed was so expensive, no one wanted to adopt him. He sat in the shelter for almost a month, and despite being one of their favorites, they were going to have to put him down this week if nobody adopted him.

My husband and I fell in love with him at first sight, and it seemed so tragic to let this wonderful, happy dog be put to sleep because no one would pay to put him back together. So we took a gamble and adopted him, even though we have no way to pay for his operation ourselves. But we thought his life was worth saving, and we would find away.

We picked him up on Saturday and drove him straight to the veterinarian so his injuries could be addressed as soon as possible and he wouldn't be in so much pain. After his initial examination and x-rays, the vet originally quoted the surgery at $5,000, but they were so moved by Geoffrey's story that they knocked $1,500 off the price of the procedure, bringing the cost to $3,500.

So that's why we're here. The veterinarian has already performed the procedure so Geoffrey could rest more comfortably and not be in pain, but now we need your help to pay the bill.
