Diane's Cancer Treatment Fund
Donation protected
My name is Heather Powell. Family has always been a key element in my life. My mother has been the glue that kept us together. From a young age she had to learn to do things on her own. My father stole her heart at the tender age of 18 and they began their now 32 year love story. At 27 she went back to college with 2 small children under 10, a husband and a full time job. She managed to obtain her bachelors degree with honors. My father, little brother and I have always received her dedication, love and support, despite what may have been going on in her life. When my brother was 21, he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Like a pillar of strength and inspiration, our mom helped guide him through a very difficult journey in his life. Today, he remains cancer free. On October 24th, 2015, sixteen days after my 30th birthday, she was diagnosed with limited disease small cell lung cancer. The cancer had also spread to a small part in her brain. Being a selfless woman, her first prayer request was for her family to not be in pain. Due to the limited coverage of her insurance, only $5000 of her treatment is covered. The complete cost of her treatment is unknown at this time as she is still actively receiving chemotherapy and full brain radiation. However, we know with 2 week long hospital stays, 4 rounds of chemotherapy and 10 days of full brain radiation the cost to ever growing. Diane has always prided herself on being able to rise to whatever challenge is thrown her way. With a loving husband, 2 children and 4 wonderful grand daughters she has remained hopeful and strong. Our family will get through this, we are just asking for prayers, love and support. All donations will be used for medical and household expenses that are necessary for her to survive. Please help us provide my mom with a much needed lifeline. There is no price that can be put on a mothers life. Our family will be eternally grateful.
