Diane Benevento- expenses due to car accident
Donation protected
In June 2018, Joe and Diane set out on a new adventure. After living in CA for 35+ years, they made plans to move to SC to enjoy their retirement and have a better life. Leaving almost all relationships and their support system behind, they were excited for what was to come.
Unfortunately, it has been filled with so much heartache. After falling victim to a moving company scam, they lost almost all of their belongings. And then on November 6th, as Diane was out running errands, she was in a horrific car accident. After being hit from behind and pushed into oncoming traffic, she was crushed by a large truck. Her abdominal muscles were shredded and are now completely gone, her leg, pelvis, shoulder, chin and nose were all broken and she suffered a concussion. Joe was told she may not make it initially but after enduring 6 surgeries, she is stable. But she still has such a long journey ahead. She is still struggling with her short term memory loss and the pain from her existing rheumatoid arthritis makes recovery more challenging as she is not able to receive her infusions. She is currently being fed through a feeding tube and is unable to begin the process of physical therapy because she hasn’t gained strength and is battling internal and external infections.
Because Joe and Diane had just moved there in June, they are lacking a support system and family has had to fly in from different parts of the country to be with Joe and help. With their one car being totaled in the accident and the other not being in the best condition, the cost of it all, especially after losing all of their belongings is weighing heavily.
If you feel led to help Joe and Diane during this very difficult time, just know how appreciated it is! We are praying and are optimistic that they will come through this.
