My name is Brooklyn and as some might know I am Dianes granddaughter, this is all a shock to us and we are still trying to process everything so I'm here trying to let everyone know what is going on. As some people know Diane has been in the hospital since right before Christmas 12/21/2022, originally she had gone in due to an infection in her leg we thought it was the same type of infection that she normally develops. She usually has to have some antibiotics and then she is better, but this time was different. This time she went in and they found out she had a new type of infection called pseudomonas aeruginosa and it was everywhere in her body not just her leg. They started antibiotics and did some more testing due to her having COPD they did a chest x-ray/CT and they found that she had a 10cm mass pushing against her heart and lungs and was also in a few lymph nodes, they did a biopsy it came back negative so we were hopeful but the Drs told us they would like to do another because it is presenting itself as cancer. So she went back for another biopsy and this one came back positive for a very aggressive form of lung cancer stage 3. While all of this was happening she also devoloped a severe lung infection, she had to have 2 drain tubes put in on her right lung this is something we are still battling. After we found out about the lung infection and the lung cancer everything took a turn for the worst. Diane has not been eating so she was very dehydrated and malnourished she now has a feeding tube, she is now also having kidney issues on top of all of the other health issues she is having. The chest infection took over and she was struggling to breathe and they couldnt wake her up on 1/5/2023 she then got sent to ICU and was put on a ventilator and that is how she is as of now. After speaking with her Care team she is not elligible for chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Her heart is Strained and where the mass is her lungs are also strained. Diane did not want to live on machines and right now she is living on a ventilator, sedation and a feeding tube. To respect her wishes we will be taking her off of the ventilator monday and keeping her comfortable
