To know my mom, Diana Howard, is to love her. She has always been a woman of creativity, warmth, and strength.
When we were growing up, she worked from home to raise us and poured her talent into creating beautiful upholstery pieces. Every stitch she made carried her love and care. Later, she stepped into the world of radio, selling airtime at Q95 Country in Adrian. With her vibrant personality and genuine charm, she could connect with anyone.
From there, she brought her light into the world of furniture sales, first with Scott Shuptrine and later with Gorman’s. She had an incredible gift—she could make people feel at ease, understood, and cared for. Her vibrant smile lit up every room, and she was always a joy to be around. Her energy was magnetic, her laughter contagious. Diana was truly unforgettable.
But now dementia has dimmed that bright light. The disease has stolen so much of her independence, and every day I watch the woman who once lit up every room slowly fade away.
The costs of her housing, daily care, and medical needs are overwhelming, and I am overextended trying to keep up. One of my greatest fears is having to move her. In the late stages of dementia, a change like that can be devastating—even fatal. I want her to remain in the place where she is safe, comfortable, and surrounded by familiar faces.
Every contribution—big or small—will go directly toward Diana’s care, helping ensure she continues to live with the dignity, stability, and love she so deeply deserves.
Thank you for reading my mom’s story, for remembering the incredible woman she is, and for helping us through this.
With gratitude,
Jamie
