Diagnostic Medical Camp in Makhpa, India

Donation protected
UPDATE: Through Go Fund Me donations as well as sponsorships from humanitarian foundations and medical companies, we have been able to collect over $9,000! We are so grateful for everyone who contributed and is making this project possible. However, as this project is a continuous effort, we still appreciate donations. These contributions will go towards refilling vitamin supplies and funding the camp for the next year.

Makhpa is a remote village in Bihar, India and is about 30 miles from the Bodhgaya area. In a poverty stricken area like Makhpa, the many village residents have little access to modern medicine. Each year, many are afflicted by diseases such as malaria or dengue fever, while so many others suffer from various forms of vitamin deficiencies.

My family is from Makhpa and I have visited the village nearly every year of my life, during my summer vacations. When I went last year, I became more aware of how prominent the medical crises are in the village. I told myself that when I would visit the following year, I wanted to do something about it.

This summer, with the help of my relatives in India, I will be organizing a medical diagnostic camp to help address the medical issues in the area. The camp will run from August 24-25 and we will collaborate with pharmaceutical distributors in the area to test the residents for medical diseases. Doctors will also be hired from Bodhgaya hospitals to help us in running the camp.

We will also run tests for several types of vitamin deficiencies and a 3 month supply of that supplement will be distributed to them (and restocked periodically), so to help better their quality of life. We will also distribute pamphlets that will educate children and adults on healthy practices such as maintaining physical health, better eating habits and personal hygiene.

Most importantly, this service will be free. This camp will help hundreds of families. The testings, supplements and pamphlets will bring change to their everyday lives. It will impact everyone from expecting mothers to young children to the elderly. And all of this will only be possible with your contributions. Every penny raised will go towards all the project expenses including the medical equipment and doctor salaries. Please help us in making this cause a success.
