Hi, and thank you for being here.
I never imagined I’d be writing this—but I’m learning that healing sometimes requires community, and I’m reaching out with an open heart.
A while ago, I was diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI)—a condition where the ovaries lose normal function before age 40. It’s not just about fertility (though that’s part of the heartbreak). POI affects my entire body—my hormones, my nervous system, my bones, my energy, my mood. It’s like going through menopause decades early, without warning, while the world keeps moving like nothing happened.
Because of this, I’ve been navigating intense symptoms: hormone crashes, cold flashes, nerve pain, fatigue, nutrient deficiencies, and muscle weakness. My body has been in a constant state of confusion, and every day feels like a balancing act.
I’m now transitioning into carefully monitored hormone therapy to give my body the support it needs. It’s not as simple as taking a pill—my system is sensitive, and it’s taken time, trial, and research to find the right approach. Alongside this, I’m working to rebuild nutrient stores (like B12, iron, and vitamin D), regulate my nervous system, and support my long-term health.
Unfortunately, much of this is not covered by insurance—including private testing, specialist consults, out-of-pocket prescriptions, and key supplements. And like many living with invisible chronic conditions, the financial weight has added another layer of stress.
I’m asking for help—not because I’ve given up, but because I’m determined to keep going.
Any contribution—big or small—will help me:
• Access safe and consistent hormone therapy
• Run necessary lab tests and monitor progress
• Afford nutritional support and supplements that are helping me regain strength
• Reduce the financial strain while I focus on healing
If you’ve ever struggled with your health or felt like your body was fighting against you, you know how important it is to feel seen, supported, and not alone. Sharing this is scary, but I believe there’s strength in asking.
Thank you for reading this. If you can’t donate, sharing this or simply sending a kind word means more than you know.
With gratitude,
Jessica Derkach
