Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and my husband and I and our four children live in Nashville, TN. On September 7, 2023, our oldest child, Rhapsody, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes a few days after her ninth birthday.

Rhapsody is compassionate, a talented artist, a wonderful big sister, loves connecting with nature and is a force to be reckoned with - within a week of her diagnosis, she gave herself insulin shots! However, her energetic, bright spirit hasn't been shining lately. She is struggling with sadness and worrying thoughts - the cruel reality of a lifelong, untreatable, chronic disease has stolen a piece of her childhood.

To help detect dangerous blood sugar levels and provide emotional support, we are raising money to purchase a certified diabetic service dog for Rhapsody. This life-saving animal would notify her of blood sugar crashes and highs - which sometimes aren't caught by a continuous glucose monitor and can be off by up to 15%. Service dogs cost between $20k to $35k and, unfortunately, aren’t covered by insurance. Your donation will help us pay for the extensive training the dog will receive.
