Diabetic Alert Dog

In 2014, my daughter Aliza was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Since then, we have gotten her a glucose monitor to send alerts when her blood sugar is dangerously high or low. The problem is that Aliza cannot consistently wake to these alerts on her own, so someone else must always be prepared to wake her up.
I have lost a lot of sleep over the years from these alerts, and we are concerned about how she will be able to live alone in the near future. Aliza is almost 17 and starting to think about college, so we need a solution that will allow her to be fully independent before the time comes for her to leave home. 

We've been considering getting Aliza a service dog for a long time now, and towards the end of last year we accepted it as our best option. A diabetic alert dog is trained to respond to certain levels of high or low blood sugar and make sure their owner is aware. Aliza would be able to rely the dog to wake her during the night, and I would be able to sleep soundly knowing she has the dog watching her blood sugar.
At the beginning of January, we signed the contracts to purchase an australian labradoodle puppy from Mountain Home Doodles and have it be trained by Hightest Kennels. The combined cost of the dog and its training is $17,000, so we need to have $5,000 by May when we pick up the dog, and we need to have $12,000 for the training before October. We have enough to cover the initial purchase of the dog, but we need support to afford the training.
