Some of us have been blessed with the gift of angels here on Earth. Those angels are selfless, pouring into others, regardless of their situation. These angels would give the shirts off their backs, regardless of their situation. I personally know someone who is the epitome of that. She is my niece, rather, my “first child”. Lauren was diagnosed with diabetes when she was 11. Through depression, through single motherhood, through it all, she has continued to be a blessing to others and one thing has remained constant – her faith in God. Lauren is a fighter who realizes that she has a purpose for living.
In 2020 she was hospitalized each month except one. The year was supposed to the beginning of new things including a kidney transplant from an “angel” donor. Instead, Lauren was met with what seems to have been every possible obstacle including various blood clots, digestive issues, COVID-19 – too many to list. Despite it all, she persisted. I share the video link below (with her and her mother’s permission) to allow you to understand her beautiful heart.
Shortly after this video was posted – yes, in 2021 – Lauren was yet again hospitalized. Because of an infection in her left foot, two toes were amputated (she had already had 3 amputated from her right foot). While doctors felt that they would be able to keep her leg intact, it became inevitable – she recently had to undergo surgery to amputate the leg below the knee.
If you know Lauren, she continues to find good even amidst her trials. If you know her, you also know that her 11-year-old son Myles is the love of her life. He, too, is a beacon of light demonstrating strength that the most resilient child would likely be unable to. They have been a blessing to so many. I am now asking on behalf of the family, that you bless Lauren and Myles. She has been on short-term disability and will now have to rely on long-term – neither have been enough to accommodate their needs. If you find it in your heart, please gift what you can to help them as they navigate this process that will include intense physical therapy and learning to live independently with a physical disability
If you are unable to give, please continue to pray for Lauren, Myles, her parents, and family!
