Breaking Limits with Type 1 Diabetes – Help Me Finish What I Started
Diabetes has always shaped my life—but a few years ago, I made the decision to stop letting it limit me.
I set a bold goal: to complete the legendary Unbound Gravel 200. My first attempt ended in disappointment—I struggled to manage my diabetes and had to stop at mile 70, right at the first checkpoint after forgetting some of my necessary medical supplies in the car. I was frustrated, discouraged, and angry at myself. But that moment lit a fire.
That failure became the beginning of something bigger. I started building an app—and eventually a company—called T1-Training, designed to help people like me manage Type 1 diabetes in sports. It’s changed my life. With it, I went back to Unbound this year and gave it everything I had. I still didn’t have the diabetes all figured out, but I had a powerful tool—and real hope.
This year, I returned to Unbound Gravel with everything in me. At mile 173, I was still going strong. But then disaster struck—a terrible crash sent me to the ER, and my bike was seriously damaged. The good news? Diabetes didn’t stop me this time. The bad news? I didn’t get to cross that finish line. And I have to go back.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. Between medical bills, bike repairs, and travel for next year’s race, it’s a lot to manage. But with your support, I can finish what I started and prove that Type 1 doesn’t get the final word.
Anything helps—and every bit means the world. Thank you.
