We are almost at the half way point of our campaign goal of $5000. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. The campaign
remains active. Please spread the word.
The first week in August, Ven. Thay Do met with a security system company to review their proposal to install an exterior security system for the Buddha Hall and temple grounds. The sophisticated, multiple camera system total price is $10,140. The
cost of the equipment being considered for donation is $3527, leaving a potential cost to the temple of $6613. Using this proposal as a baseline, Ven. Thay Do is expanding the scope of his search for a comparable system.
In the early morning hours of April 19, 2017, criminals were caught in surveillance tape stealing thousands of dollars from the Dong Hung Buddhist Temple on Davis Street, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dong Hung Temple is establishing this funding request for assistance with the purchase and installation of a new, upgraded security system for its Buddha Hall. The Buddha Hall is left open for the community to enjoy for most hours of the day. The recent theft of its donation box and contents has identified the need for an enhanced security system.
The need is immediate. The availability of funds for this unexpected expense is challenging for the temple community. This appeal for funding help is made with the goal of continuing to keep the doors of the Buddha Hall open so the entire community will have continuous access to the peaceful energy of the Buddha Hall.
