Didsbury Sr.Girls Dragons Basketball
NEED YOUR HELP!
We are so proud of our Didsbury Sr. High Girls Basketball team as they won the South Central Zone Championship over the weekend. Now, this group of amazing girls are onto the Provincial Championships in La Crete! This is the 1st time in 4 years that a local team has gone to provincials in basketball and before that there has never been a girls team that has qualified for provincials. La Crete, Alberta is located 946 km North of Didsbury! This is where we need the help of local businesses. The Dragons are looking for some sponsors to help out with the cost of travelling to such a remote location. The bus trip, along with the driver’s expenses, will cost $6000.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THERE and FAST!!!!
The team will be leaving early in the morning,Wednesday, March 13 to ensure that they are there for their scheduled practice time and photo-shoot that evening.Their first game will be played Thursday, March 14 with games scheduled Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16.
Each athlete will be responsible for their own food and lodging over the 4 days. With the added expense of travelling to such a far location the team is asking for some help to cover the significant travel cost.
The girls hosted the 8 team zone tournament bringing into Didsbury teams from across the South Central Zone from Banff, Black Diamond, Hanna, Okotoks, Three Hills, Strathmore and Drumheller.
The athletes on this team are in grades 10,11 and 12. These girls are local residents of Didsbury and with the exception of 2 new girls to Didsbury the athletes and their families have been locals to the community for years.
If you or your business can help out in any way please contact Tina Heistad, assistant coach, as soon as possible. Remember we are leaving this WEDNESDAY!!!
