On February 6, 2022, Robert Gruman, a decorated veteran of Afghanistan, son of Greg and Debbie, suffered a traumatic injury when his vehicle rolled over on the back roads of Rimrock, Arizona. Greg watched from the vehicle behind as his son’s vehicle rolled over in front of him. Greg rushed to the scene to see his son’s leg nearly severed. He applied a tourniquet to Robert’s leg and waited for a medevac helicopter to fly his son to a trauma center in Phoenix. Robert underwent emergency surgery to save his life, but my brother lost his foot and the lower part of his leg that night. Robert fought to survive on the road that night while waiting for medical evacuation, and he is ready to fight to regain his life through the long and intensive physical therapy that lies in front of him.

 

My brother lived in Rimrock to be close to where he worked, Rainbow Acres, a non-profit organization that provides assisted living to adults with developmental disabilities. Given Robert’s extensive injuries, he will need to live with his father in Phoenix. Outside of his work at Rainbow Acres, Robert helped his community as a handyman. His community will miss his contributions.

 

All donations will go towards medical expenses and to cover basic living expenses while he recovers and learns new job skills. Any and all donations are appreciated, thoughts and prayers as well. We are looking to build a support network for Robert on his Road to Recovery. This fund was created by Robert’s brother, Nicholas Gruman in Los Angeles, CA. All funds will be used exclusively by Robert for medical expenses and to cover basic living expenses while he recovers and learns new job skills.
