Help My Dog See Again!

Donation protected
I adopted Toph in March after she was abandoned in a cage on the side of the road. My best friend now spends her days in a warm, loving home with plenty of food, toys, treats, long walks, and of course, her favorite: belly rubs from everyone she meets! The only thing I haven't been able to help her with is her eyesight. Toph has been blind for most of her life, and that's made the world terrifying for her. She's scared of so many things: An empty apartment, other dogs, people walking by, rain, new staircases, grates, sudden noises, and any other surprises that she can't see coming. The vets and behaviorists I've talked to about her anxiety all say the same thing: Life will be so much better for Toph when she can see again.

Cataract surgery is our best bet. Unfortunately, I'm in school and, without a job, I don't have a way to pay for most of the vet bill. That's turning into a big problem for us: I can't be with her while I'm in class during the day, and Toph can't be alone for more than a couple hours without barking up a storm. The usual ways to help a dog with separation anxiety won't work on Toph, because her fear comes primarily from her blindness. Without the surgery, we may be forced to move because of Toph's otherwise incurable fear of unexplained noises and of being alone. Help me give Toph the full life she deserves: one where she can see the world, which isn't so scary after all. Any donation or share will help! All proceeds will go toward her vet bills.
